How can I tell how big or small some of the pieces are?
If you go to the contact's page and click on the blog, we've tried to include pictures of folks wearing Bittersweets. We don't have a whole lotta pics up there right now, so you could help us out by sending us a lo-res photo of you in your Bittersweets!
Although it's very handy for opening boxes, my jewelry is very pointy and catches on my clothes. What should I do?
If you want to take the points down on your vamp rings or make your little dagger less dangerous, you can use a fine grit sandpaper (like 220) from the hardware store or even a nail file! Silver is very soft, so you need not apply much pressure. We suggest that you file/sand a bit, look at it closely, file/sand it, etc until you get your desired result. But, please don't just go to town with it, because it's easier to subtract than to add!
I just placed an order. How long will it take?
The average time for shipping is two-three weeks. Each item is made especially for you. If you need something for a birthday or gift, please email us and we can get your order to you as fast as possible. Occasionally, we are out of stock on an item and it will take a bit longer than 2 weeks. Please be patient and do let us know with an email if you have a deadline. If you don't let us know, we can't read your mind!
Do you ship outside the US?
Yes! Please be patient with shipping. It's been our experience that arrival takes between 3-6 weeks from the time you placed your order, especially if you're in the U.K. We now have an extra feature in the shopping cart for Global Express Shipping. It's a $20 flat fee. Added to the automatic shipping charge, it's pretty close the the $30 that the post office charges for this service. It will take 3-5 business days for shipping opposed to weeks. Keep in mind, that it still is one-two weeks until your item may be ready to ship. If you need it urgently, please let us know with an email and we'll try to expedite your order.
I want to send something back for an exchange. What should I do?
Send an email to: info@bittersweetsny.com after you have mailed the item indicating your desired exchange. The return mailing address is: Bittersweets New York, 37 Broadway, Brooklyn NY 11211. Once the item is received we can work on your exchange. Please use a delivery confirmation form at the post office so the package can be tracked. We will send you an email with a delivery confirmation # on your new item.
Do you buy jewelry from other designers?
No, but sometimes we have a few things at the shop on consignment only. Please send an email with lo-res photos to info@bittersweetsny.com and a brief introduction of who you are. If you want to make an appointment to show your jewelry, please send an email with pics. We'll try to answer every email, but please don't have hurt feelings if we don't get back right away or not at all. Bittersweets was rejected from a few stores when we first started. So don't give up or take it personally, not every store is a perfect fit for your stuff. It doesn't necessarily mean that we didn't think your jewelry was good or we didn't like you as a person.
I have a store and I'd like to place a wholesale order.
Send an email with "wholesale" in the subject to: info@bittersweetsny.com Include your address and the name of your store in the text so we can send you a catalog!
I bought a Bittersweets piece a while ago, and I notice that you've changed the design. What's the deal with that?
Some changes are made based on an aesthetic decision and sometimes it has to do with making a sturdier piece of jewelry that will wear better. If you have any questions about a piece you already have, please feel free to email us! We'll gladly exchange an old Bittersweets piece for a brand new one! Woohoo!
Who did your awesome site and illustrations? Josh Slater(jslater411@gmail.com) is the artist behind the pen and ink drawings and Quinn Chandler (quinn@quinnchandler.com) designed/built the site. Both fellas are available for hire. You won't be sorry! They are the bee's knees in my book.
